Our Church
Mountain View Baptist Church is an independent fundamental Baptist Church. We started as a mission out of Valley Bible Baptist Church, Espanola, NM. May 18th, 2008 was the start date for MVBC. Meeting at a community center, our first day attendance was 30! Since then, we have moved locations, while continuing to grow. After one year of meeting, we were officially sent out and became our own entity as an independent Baptist Church. Please view our doctrinal statement to find out more about our beliefs.
Our Pastor

Estevan Montoya did not have the privilege of growing up in a Christian home. His parents were divorced when he was a young child, and this caused confusion in the mind of Estevan. His mother wanted Estevan to have Godly influence, but she couldn’t find what she knew was right for him. While this was going on, Estevan began to be influenced by the bad crowd, and this caused him to be somewhat rebellious. While in High School, young Estevan made some mistakes, which eventually led him to be placed in a Christian School. It was at this school that Estevan began to hear the truth of the his sin. He went to school for almost an entire year without ever being saved. He continued his lifestyle of sin without the school finding out. During a Wednesday night service, under the preaching of a missionary, Estevan realized how wicked he was in the Eyes of a Holy God. It was that night that Estevan wept at and altar, “People think I’m something I’m tired of living a lie, would please forgive me?” And that night those tears of sorrow became tears of joy as the stain of sin was washed away by the Precious Blood of Jesus.
Shortly after his conversion, God began to call Estevan to preach. After seeing his friend, Steven Reyes, answer the call to preach, God began to tell Estevan that he too needed to follow God. This would be hurdle in the life of Estevan, because he already began to pursue a career in Web/Graphic Design. Estevan fought the call of God for a months, but preaching got a hold of young Estevan once again. During a regional competition of Baptist schools in New Mexico, God used Pastor Brain McMath to speak to the heart of Estevan. The first night of the meeting Estevan answered the call of God for his life, and to his surprise, it was also the answer to the sixteen years of prayers his mother had be making since the birth of Estevan.
Estevan attended Golden State Baptist College, and while at college he met his future wife, Eileen. The two dated for three years before marriage. Estevan had the blessing of helping his future wife find the assurance of Salvation just weeks before their marriage. Just one week after his graduation the two were married.
Not knowing what was next, the new couple went back to Estevan’s home church, Rio Grande Baptist Church. While serving as Assistant Pastor, Estevan knew God wanted him in Evangelism. Estevan had to make sure that God was leading him, and after much prayer and listening to God in preaching, it was evident that God called him. During this time God blessed the Montoya family two daughters.
God called the Montoya family to Taos, NM to start an Independent Fundamental Baptist Church. The Montoya family started MVBC May 18th, 2008.
